Musicians’ Workshop Information
We are delighted to welcome Ian and Judith Muir of Craigellachie to play for us this weekend and lead our Musicians’ workshop.
This course will be aimed at giving a grounding in good technique enabling musicians to understand and appreciate the unique style required for playing for Scottish country dancing. Competent players from all musical backgrounds are welcome. No prior experience of playing in a band or for dancing is needed. The focus will be on accordion, fiddle and band keyboard/piano but other instruments (including flute, recorder and guitar) are welcome at the discretion of the course tutor. As a guideline, the minimum standard is Grade 5 or equivalent of the ABRSM. Ian actively encourages younger players to apply for a place on the course. The day finishes with the opportunity for all participants on the course to play for the evening dance as part of a band of massed musicians led by Ian and Judith Muir.
